Free Cancer Screening and Consultation Camp Continues at Government Medical College, Pendri Till January 25

375 people examined on third day; Pap smear and mammography screenings conducted

A free cancer screening and consultation camp is being organised under the Suraksha Chakra initiative at Government Medical College, Pendri, Rajnandgaon, from January 19 to January 25, 2026. The camp is jointly conducted by the District Health Committee, Rajnandgaon, and Balco Medical Centre, Naya Raipur, and is operational daily from 10.30 am to 4 pm.

On the third day of the camp, cancer specialists examined 375 individuals and provided necessary medical consultation and guidance. During the day, 109 patients underwent Pap smear tests, while 60 patients received mammography screening. With this, a total of 941 people have benefited from health screening and medical advice since the commencement of the camp.

The camp offers a wide range of cancer screening facilities, including mammography, oral cancer screening through brush cytology, and gynaecological examinations such as Pap smear tests, along with other essential diagnostic services.

Cancer specialists including Dr Rajendra Prasad Patel, Dr Palak Agrawal, Dr Diwakar Pandey, Dr Meena Armo, and Dr Sunita Meshram, along with other doctors, are conducting health examinations and providing expert consultation to the participants.

The Health Department has informed that symptoms such as breast lumps or abnormal swellings, changes in the mouth or voice, difficulty in swallowing, persistent cough, headaches or body pain, non-healing sores or ulcers, recurrent fever or infections, anaemia, sickle cell anaemia, thalassemia, blood-related disorders, skin changes, unexplained weight loss, changes in bowel or urinary habits, irregular menstrual cycles, or lower abdominal pain may indicate cancer. Citizens experiencing such symptoms are advised to attend the camp for timely screening and consultation.
