In a significant step towards improving public health infrastructure, Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh on Monday distributed appointment letters to 165 newly recruited health professionals under the National Health Mission (NHM) during a program held at the District Panchayat hall in Rajnandgaon. The recruitment includes doctors, nurses, and allied health staff across various categories, aiming to enhance medical services in urban and slum areas.

Extending warm greetings on the occasion of Doctors’ Day, Dr. Raman Singh commended the district administration for conducting a transparent and undisputed recruitment process. He emphasized the need to improve health indicators such as infant and maternal mortality rates, and malnutrition, particularly in urban slum areas. He urged the new recruits to contribute proactively to institutional deliveries, 100% immunization coverage, and community health awareness.
“This recruitment is a milestone. Rajnandgaon has never seen such a large-scale health sector hiring. Each appointment represents hope for improved services and stronger community health responses,” said the Speaker. He advised staff to refer complicated cases to higher facilities and contribute towards enhancing the district’s health index.
Wide-Scale Recruitment Details:
The recruitment drive includes 21 ANMs, 54 Nursing Officers, 6 Radiographers, 4 Male AYUSH Medical Officers, 17 Community Health Officers, and various other essential roles such as Counselors, Psychologists, Lab Assistants, and Class IV staff. These appointments are expected to ease the patient load and reduce dependency on external referrals.

Public Representatives Laud the Effort
Lok Sabha MP Santosh Pandey congratulated the recruits and called the appointments a pivotal moment in their careers. “On this Doctors’ Day, you begin your journey to serve society,” he stated. Pandey praised both Dr. Raman Singh and Collector Dr. Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure, acknowledging their backgrounds in medicine and governance.

Mayor Madhusudan Yadav also extended his best wishes, highlighting that the Urban Health Mission—initiated during Dr. Singh’s earlier tenure—has begun yielding positive results. The city now operates 20 Urban Health Mission centers benefitting thousands of citizens.
Collector Dr. Sarveshwar Bhure noted that this is the largest health sector recruitment in five years and includes candidates from Rajnandgaon and other states. He said the district has also emerged as a state leader in Ayushman card distribution, with coverage rising from 50% to 80%.

The event was attended by Zila Panchayat Chairperson Kiran Vaishnav, Vice Chairperson Kiran Sahu, Bank President Sachin Baghel, senior officials, police, and a large number of health department staff and public representatives.
