Chikhli Police Recover More Than 10.8 Litres of Indian-Made Foreign Liquor; Two Accused Sent to Jail

Chikhli Police have taken action against three accused under the Excise Act as part of an ongoing campaign against the illegal sale and transportation of liquor in Rajnandgaon.
Police recovered a total of 64 quarter bottles of Icon Premium Whisky, containing more than 10.8 litres, with a stated value of ₹7,680. A motorcycle allegedly used for transporting the liquor was also seized. The motorcycle has been valued at ₹30,000.
Two Arrested While Transporting 44 Quarter Bottles
According to police, the campaign against illegal liquor, ganja, anti-social elements and public drinking is being conducted under the direction of Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma, guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police Keertan Rathore, and supervision of City Superintendent of Police Vaishali Jain.
During the night of October 1, Chikhli Police received information that two persons were allegedly transporting a large quantity of liquor on motorcycle number CG 08 AX 3916 towards Sai Dwar Gali in Chikhli.
Police stopped the motorcycle near Sheetla Talab and conducted a search. During the search, 44 quarter bottles of Icon Premium Whisky, valued at ₹5,280, were allegedly recovered from the two persons.
The accused were identified as Abhijit Gaikwad (20), a resident of Gaurinagar Ramdada Gali, and Dev Singh (37), a resident of Gaurinagar Prasunnadas Gali. Both are from the Chikhli Outpost area of Rajnandgaon.
Police took action against both under Section 34(2) of the Excise Act and produced them before the court. As per the court’s order, both were sent to jail. The motorcycle allegedly used for transporting the liquor was also seized.

Third Accused Caught Near Chhota Talab
During the same campaign, police apprehended another person near the Hanuman Temple close to Chhota Talab in Chikhli.
Police said the man was allegedly carrying liquor illegally and waiting for a means of transport. He was identified as Nagesh Sinha (26), a resident of Shankarpur, Ward No. 10, Bajrang Chowk, under Chikhli Outpost.
Police seized 20 quarter bottles of Icon Premium Whisky, valued at ₹2,400, from his possession.
Legal action was taken against him under Section 34(1) of the Excise Act.

The operation was carried out with the participation of Chikhli Outpost In-charge Sub-Inspector Kailash Chandra Marai, Head Constables Surendra Ramteke and Arun Kumar Netam, Woman Head Constable Vandana Patle, and Constables Jairam Nishad, Tameshwar Bhuwarya, Sunil Bairagi, Gopal Paikara, Aditya Solanki and Chandrakapur Aayam, along with other Chikhli Police personnel.
