Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav addressed a notice issued by the Patna Registration Department, clarifying that he has not received any communication from the Election Commission regarding alleged irregularities in his voter ID. Speaking to the media in Patna, Yadav expressed confidence in responding robustly to the notice, while questioning the accountability of authorities in the issuance of two Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) linked to his name.
“I have not received any notice from the Election Commission, but from the Patna Registration Department, and I will give a good answer to it,” Yadav stated firmly. He further challenged the authorities, asking, “If two EPIC numbers were issued, who is at fault? And they ask an explanation from me?” The RJD leader’s remarks highlight his intent to contest the allegations, placing the onus on the administrative system for any errors in voter ID issuance.

The notice from the Patna Registration Department reportedly pertains to discrepancies involving dual EPIC numbers, a matter that has sparked political controversy in Bihar. Yadav, the former Deputy Chief Minister, suggested that the issue stems from administrative oversight rather than any wrongdoing on his part. His comments have reignited discussions about the efficiency and transparency of the voter registration process in the state
.Political analysts view this development as a potential flashpoint in Bihar’s charged political landscape, especially with the opposition RJD intensifying its criticism of the ruling coalition. Yadav’s supporters have rallied behind him, alleging that the notice is a politically motivated move to target the RJD leader ahead of crucial electoral events. Meanwhile, officials from the Patna Registration Department have remained tight-lipped, stating only that the matter is under review.
Yadav’s response underscores his combative stance, as he prepares to submit a detailed reply to the authorities. “I will address this with facts and ensure the truth comes out,” he asserted, signaling his readiness to confront the issue head-on. The controversy is likely to keep the spotlight on voter ID regulations and administrative accountability in Bihar, with political observers closely watching the next steps.
As the situation unfolds, Tejashwi Yadav’s handling of the notice could shape public and political narratives in the state, particularly as the RJD seeks to strengthen its position against its rivals.
