In two fresh cases, over 512 quintals of illegal paddy worth nearly ₹16 lakh were seized, taking the total seizure this season to more than ₹8.27 crore.
Acting on the directives of Collector Jitendra Yadav, the Rajnandgaon district administration has intensified its crackdown on illegal paddy procurement. On 3 December, joint teams seized 649.60 quintals of illegal paddy worth ₹20.13 lakh across six cases. With this, total seizures during the Kharif Marketing Year 2025-26 have risen to 17,621.86 quintals valued at over ₹5.46 crore, along with eight vehicles. Officials have warned that repeat offenders and middlemen may soon face criminal cases.
Under Collector Jitendra Yadav’s strict directives, joint teams of Revenue, Food, and Mandi Departments seized 215.60 quintals of illegal paddy on Saturday. With this, total seizures in the current season have touched 123 cases across the district.

Rajnandgaon district intensified its crackdown on illegal paddy trade, seizing 207 quintals in a single day and pushing total seizures this season to 3,859 quintals valued at ₹1.19 crore. The administration warned middlemen of potential criminal action and deployed 24-hour teams at inter-state check-posts to curb unauthorized grain movement.
The Rajnandgaon administration has intensified its crackdown on illegal paddy sales, seizing 820 quintals worth ₹25.42 lakh in a latest raid. With total seizures now at 1,804 quintals and two vehicles, authorities have set up interstate check-posts and ordered strict action against traders storing paddy illegally.
Ahead of the Kharif 2025-26 paddy procurement season, Collector Jitendra Yadav instructed nodal officers to ensure transparency and complete readiness at procurement centers. Starting 15 November, centers must provide full facilities to farmers, prioritize small and marginal farmers through token issuance, and ensure timely payment.
Collector Dr. Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure reviewed food distribution, marketing, and civil supplies in Rajnandgaon, directing timely ration storage, Aadhaar e-KYC completion, and continuous supply of fertilizers and seeds. He also emphasized issuing Kisan Credit Cards to support farmers with zero-interest loans.
The Congress party in Rajnandgaon, led by Asif Ali, has accused the Food Department of corruption and illegal ration shop allocations under BJP influence, demanding a high-level probe and threatening protests if action is not taken.
