Collector Jitendra Yadav on Tuesday directed officials, bankers and vendors to accelerate the installation of solar panels under the Prime Minister Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, calling it one of the government’s most important public welfare initiatives. He was reviewing the implementation of the scheme at a meeting held in the District Panchayat conference hall.
The Collector emphasized that people should be made fully aware of the benefits of the scheme and motivated to install rooftop solar panels. He instructed vendors to undertake work in both rural and urban areas based strictly on experience and quality standards, and to ensure prompt installation of solar panels at the homes of registered consumers.

Highlighting the importance of quality, the Collector said that all solar panels installed under the scheme must meet prescribed standards. Vendors delivering quality work with speed would be rewarded, while strict action would be taken against those failing to maintain quality or timelines. He also instructed vendors to provide consumers with complete information, including details of the company’s experience, solar panel manufacturer, registration status, panel quality, free post-installation services and model specifications.
District Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Surchi Singh reviewed the progress of the scheme with electricity department officials and directed them to achieve the assigned targets at the earliest. She stressed that the scheme should be implemented in mission mode to ensure that its benefits reach beneficiaries in both rural and urban areas.
The meeting was attended by Municipal Corporation Commissioner Atul Vishwakarma, lead bank officers, municipal officials, executive and assistant engineers of the Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company, and registered vendors.
