Power Distribution Company Conducts Smart Meter Fortnight Campaign Across Four Districts; Consumers Trained to Use Mobile App for Real-Time Monitoring

The Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited is conducting an extensive consumer awareness campaign under the Smart Meter Fortnight from February 9 to February 22, 2026, across distribution centres in Rajnandgaon, Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki, Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai, and Kabirdham districts. The initiative aims to educate electricity consumers about the advanced features and benefits of smart meters and promote modern power management practices.
As part of the campaign, an awareness programme was organized at the electricity office premises in Kailash Nagar, Rajnandgaon city. Officials explained the utility of smart meters, accurate billing processes, and improved transparency in electricity consumption to consumers in detail.
To make the outreach more engaging, attractive street plays were staged to communicate the advantages of smart meters in a simple and entertaining manner. Consumers were also encouraged to download the “Mor Bijli App,” enabling them to monitor their electricity usage in real time at 30-minute intervals directly on their mobile phones.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from citizens, with 145 consumers from the city’s West and East zones providing positive feedback regarding smart meters. During the event, 75 consumers downloaded the mobile application on the spot and received hands-on guidance on monitoring power consumption and making online bill payments through the app.
Senior officials present on the occasion included Superintending Engineer Shankeshwar Kanwar, Executive Engineer Kaushlendra Pandey, Assistant Engineers Rohit Mandavi and Prakash Narayan Verma, Junior Engineers Kirti Deshmukh and Neha Gadhpayle, along with representatives from Genius Power and other staff members.
Officials stated that the primary objective of the campaign is to empower consumers with advanced technology, eliminate misconceptions about smart meters, and promote uninterrupted electricity services along with accurate billing. Through awareness and digital tools, consumers are being encouraged to monitor consumption patterns and adopt energy-saving practices, ushering in a new era of efficiency and transparency in power distribution.
