Continuous efforts to upgrade healthcare services and facilities are yielding significant results in Rajnandgaon district. Under various government health schemes, both urban and rural populations are gaining improved access to medical services. As part of this sustained initiative, Rajnandgaon has secured the first position in Chhattisgarh in the registration of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) cards, including the Ayushman Vaya Vandana Card for senior citizens.
The district has achieved 100.20% registration against the targeted number of beneficiaries under the Ayushman Vaya Vandana Card scheme, making it the first district in the state to complete 100% registration. A total of 25,088 senior citizens aged 70 years and above have been registered against 25,138 eligible beneficiaries.

Similarly, Rajnandgaon has topped the state in overall Ayushman Card registration by achieving 98.42% coverage, with 9,37,461 beneficiaries registered against a target of 9,52,546.
The Health Department completed Ayushman Vaya Vandana Card registration by conducting door-to-door outreach across the district, ensuring no eligible beneficiary was left out. Under this scheme, senior citizens are entitled to additional free medical treatment up to ₹5 lakh at both government and empanelled private hospitals.

Alongside this, Ayushman Card registration is being carried out at a rapid pace. Under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, economically weaker families are provided cashless, paperless treatment of up to ₹5 lakh per family per year at public and private hospitals. This flagship health insurance initiative of the government continues to play a crucial role in ensuring equitable access to quality healthcare services for all.
