Funds to Be Used for Embankments, Culverts and Stop Dam Projects to Reduce Flood Risks and Improve Connectivity

Ravi Sinha, Chairman of Government Shivnath Science College and BJP councillor, has welcomed the approval of more than ₹5.77 crore for Rajnandgaon district under the State Disaster Mitigation Fund (SDMF) for the financial year 2025–26, calling it a significant development boost for the region.
He said the sanctioned amount will be utilized for key infrastructure works in various villages, including construction of embankments, culverts and stop dams. These projects are expected to reduce flood risks during the monsoon season and improve safe transportation in rural areas.
Sinha expressed heartfelt gratitude to former Chief Minister and current MLA Dr. Raman Singh for his continuous efforts and commitment towards the development of the region, stating that the approval was made possible due to his leadership and persistent follow-up.

According to him, the sanctioned funds will support embankment protection works for anicuts, construction of culverts and development of a stop dam near Gauraghat in Chhuriya block. These projects are expected to provide significant relief to farmers and local residents while strengthening the district’s basic infrastructure.
Sinha also thanked Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Disaster Management Minister Tankaram Verma and the Chhattisgarh government for their cooperation and positive approach in facilitating the approval.
He expressed confidence that under the guidance of Dr. Raman Singh, development activities in Rajnandgaon district would continue to accelerate and the district would achieve new milestones of progress.
