SP Ankita Sharma says technology-driven scientific investigation will ensure faster and more effective justice

In a significant step towards strengthening the implementation of India’s new criminal laws through technology, Rajnandgaon Police distributed smartphones to 150 investigating officers on Saturday. The initiative was carried out under the directions of the Police Headquarters, Chhattisgarh, to enhance scientific investigation and improve the efficiency of criminal investigations.
Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma (IPS) handed over the smartphones during a programme held at the Rajnandgaon Police Office and instructed officers to make optimum use of modern technology for conducting high-quality, evidence-based investigations.
Technology to Strengthen Criminal Investigations
Addressing the officers, SP Ankita Sharma said that with the enforcement of the new criminal laws, technology has become an integral part of the investigation process.

She explained that the smartphones would enable investigating officers to:
- Collect digital evidence directly from crime scenes.
- Capture and document photographs and videos efficiently.
- Submit reports through digital platforms.
- Use police applications for investigation and case management.
- Facilitate faster communication and information sharing.
According to her, these capabilities will make investigations more transparent, time-bound, and result-oriented.
Smartphones for Official Use Only
SP Sharma instructed all investigating officers to use the devices strictly for official purposes.
She emphasized the importance of continuously improving investigation quality in line with the provisions of the new criminal laws and urged officers to ensure proper collection and preservation of digital evidence to deliver speedy and effective justice to citizens.

Officers Welcome the Initiative
The programme was attended by City Superintendent of Police Vaishali Jain, Deputy Superintendent of Police K.P. Markam, and investigating officers from across the district.
The officers expressed gratitude to the Police Headquarters and SP Ankita Sharma, stating that the smartphones would significantly simplify investigation work, improve efficiency, and enhance the execution of official duties.
Rajnandgaon Police reiterated its commitment to the effective implementation of the new criminal laws, technology-driven policing, and delivering better and more efficient services to the public.
