The Prime Minister Awas Yojana (PMAY) is transforming the rural landscape by providing permanent housing to poor and needy families, significantly improving their quality of life. Beyond shelter, the scheme is offering dignity, security, and a stable environment for families to live with confidence.

A living example of this positive change can be seen in Jungleesar village of Rajnandgaon development block, where beneficiary Shri Ineshwar Chandrakar has fulfilled his long-cherished dream of owning a permanent house under the Prime Minister Awas Yojana. With government support, his family now resides in a safe and well-constructed home.

Shri Chandrakar informed that he received a housing grant of ₹1.20 lakh for the construction of the house. Additionally, under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), he was provided employment for 95 days, earning ₹25,000, which further supported the construction process.

He recalled that his earlier mud house had become completely dilapidated. During the monsoon season, the family faced severe hardships, with frequent repairs required every year, leading to recurring expenses. Rainy and winter seasons were especially difficult, affecting not only daily living but also the children’s education and health. At one point, he was even considering selling farmland to build a permanent house.

However, the assistance received under the Prime Minister Awas Yojana gave him the confidence to move forward without selling his land. “I had been dreaming of a permanent house for years, but lacked the courage due to financial constraints. The support provided under this scheme gave me hope and strength to build my own home,” he said.

Expressing happiness, Shri Chandrakar said that his family is now living comfortably in a clean and secure environment. He added that the scheme empowers economically weaker families by giving them the confidence to build permanent homes and live with dignity.

On achieving this milestone, Shri Ineshwar Chandrakar expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai for implementing welfare schemes that directly benefit the poor and needy.
