The state government’s paddy procurement policy is steadily strengthening farmers’ trust in governance, as assured purchases at Minimum Support Price (MSP), timely payments, and transparent systems continue to deliver tangible benefits on the ground.

Farmers are increasingly feeling secure and respected due to the streamlined procurement mechanism, which now offers improved facilities at paddy procurement centres. From registration to weighing and payment, the entire process has been digitised, effectively eliminating the role of middlemen. As a result, farmers are receiving the full value of their produce directly into their bank accounts.

The government’s objective is to economically empower farmers and transform agriculture into a profitable enterprise. To achieve this, the paddy procurement system has been strengthened through enhanced transparency, close monitoring, and rapid grievance redressal.

Sharing his experience, farmer Shiv Kumar Sahu of Janglesar village said he sold 145 quintals of paddy at the Kanharpuri procurement centre using the final online token system. He owns 39 acres of agricultural land, cultivating paddy during the kharif season and wheat and maize during rabi.

Sahu credited timely availability of seeds and fertilisers, along with crop diversification practices, for improved yields this season. Expressing satisfaction, he said his entire paddy produce was sold at MSP, resulting in significant financial gains.

He further noted that upon arriving at the procurement centre, his crop was weighed promptly and transparently using electronic machines. He praised the facilities provided to farmers at the Kanharpuri centre, highlighting the efficiency and fairness of the process.

Recalling earlier challenges, Sahu said farmers previously faced multiple difficulties while selling paddy, but the current policy has resolved most of these issues. Time-bound payments have also enabled cultivators to prepare for the next crop cycle without financial stress.
