More than 50 suspects verified during night-long patrol; absconding accused arrested, police presence creates deterrence

In a strong move to reinforce law and order, Rajnandgaon Police conducted an extensive overnight combing and patrol operation across the city on Wednesday night. The operation resulted in the verification of over 50 suspected anti-social elements and the arrest of a long-absconding accused involved in an assault case.
The combing operation was carried out under the direction of Superintendent of Police Ms Ankita Sharma and the guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police Mr Pushpendra Nayak. Prior to the operation, police personnel were given clear instructions, following which four separate teams were deployed in sensitive and identified areas of the city.

Police presence was witnessed late into the night in areas under Kotwali, Basantpur and Lalbagh police stations, as well as localities falling under Chikhli police outpost. A team of around 70 police officers and personnel patrolled lanes, colonies, public places and isolated spots, closely monitoring suspicious activities and conducting checks on more than 50 individuals.
During the operation, known troublemakers, history-sheeters, individuals under police surveillance and suspicious persons were questioned. Police teams also visited the homes of juveniles previously involved in criminal activities and strictly advised their family members to keep a close watch on them and prevent them from roaming outside late at night.

People found sitting at public and deserted places late at night, including those warming themselves near bonfires, were also checked. Individuals found under the influence of alcohol were reprimanded and sent home with a warning of strict action if found loitering again at night.
Significantly, during the combing operation, police arrested Dharmendra Talakai (23), son of Uday Raggna, a resident of Station Para, who was absconding in Crime No. 624/25 registered at Chikhli outpost under Sections 296, 115(2), 351(2) and 119(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Senior officers including Additional SP Pushpendra Nayak, City SP Ms Vaishali Jain, DSP Ms Manjulata Baaz, Deputy Superintendent of Police (AJAK) Mr K.P. Markam, City SP Mr Alexander Kiro, along with all concerned police station and outpost in-charges, remained present in the field throughout the operation.
Police officials stated that such combing and night patrol operations will continue regularly to instill a sense of security among citizens and maintain a strong deterrent against anti-social elements.
