In a touching display of compassion during the Kanwar Yatra 2025, Circle Officer (CO) Rishika Singh of Muzaffarnagar has won widespread admiration for her selfless service to pilgrims. On July 19, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) was seen massaging the hands and feet of women pilgrims and children, providing much-needed relief to those fatigued from their arduous journey to fetch holy Ganga water.

The Kanwar Yatra, an annual pilgrimage undertaken by millions of Lord Shiva devotees during the holy month of Shravan, sees participants walking hundreds of kilometers to offer Ganga water at Shiva temples. CO Rishika Singh, stationed at the Fugana Circle, went beyond her duty of ensuring security and smooth logistics by personally tending to the pilgrims’ needs. Her act of applying soothing sprays and offering care at a service camp near the Muzaffarnagar-Shamli border has resonated deeply with devotees and locals alike.

Singh emphasized that the Muzaffarnagar police are committed to supporting pilgrims, particularly women, by providing special facilities such as dedicated toilets and medical aid. “Our police and administration are always on the ground to ensure devotees face no problems. We are here to serve, ensuring smooth traffic and comfort for all,” she told reporters. Her efforts are part of a broader initiative by the Uttar Pradesh administration, which has deployed over 10,000 women police personnel and set up 150 women’s help desks to create a safe and supportive environment for female Kanwariyas.

Pilgrims have lauded the administration’s arrangements, with many expressing gratitude for the support provided during their spiritual journey. The heartfelt gesture by CO Rishika Singh has not only alleviated the physical strain of the pilgrims but also highlighted the spirit of service that defines the Kanwar Yatra, making it a memorable moment of devotion and humanity in Muzaffarnagar.
