On the compassionate occasion of Mother’s Day, a new ray of happiness emerged for women inmates lodged at Raipur Women’s Jail. In accordance with the announcement made by Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma, the jail administration inaugurated the much-awaited Prison Inmate Video Calling System, offering inmates an important technological and emotional lifeline.

Bridging the Distance with Loved Ones

The video calling facility has been established through an agreement between the Prison Department and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). With this system now operational, women inmates will be able to communicate directly with their family members and legal counsels through video calls.

The initiative is expected to strengthen inmates’ emotional well-being while also assisting them in legal consultations, reducing the psychological stress caused by prolonged separation from families.

Recognition of Skills Under Nischay Programme

During the programme, 38 women inmates who successfully completed skill development training under the Nischay Programme were awarded certificates in recognition of their efforts.

The certification marks an important step toward rehabilitation and self-reliance, preparing inmates for dignified reintegration into society after release.
