In anticipation of the upcoming municipal budget, Mayor Madhusudan Yadav of Rajnandgaon chaired a structured review meeting with councillors from all 51 municipal wards at the Nagar Nigam office. The meeting served as a platform for brainstorming on budget frameworks, improving basic civic amenities like water, electricity, sanitation, and resolving ward-level issues.

Municipal Commissioner Atul Vishwakarma, Chairman Topendra Singh Paras Verma, Leader of Opposition Santosh Pille, and several members of the Mayor’s Council were also present. The mayor announced that the budget meeting is scheduled for the end of this month, and ward-wise suggestions have been solicited to ensure inclusive planning.

Focus on Drinking Water Amid Summer Crisis

Amid falling water levels in the Shivnath River, the mayor acknowledged the challenge of ensuring uninterrupted drinking water supply. Currently, water is being supplied three times over two days. Proactive steps such as repairing hand pumps, cleaning wells, and installing Sintex tanks have been initiated. He urged councillors to provide a list of usable wells in their wards for optimized distribution.

Civic Concerns: Sanitation, Electricity, and Construction

Councillors raised concerns over delayed sanitation services, shortage of sanitation workers, power issues, and hurdles in ongoing construction work. The mayor assured timely resolution through departmental coordination and informed that water tankers would also be hired if required.

Call for Cooperation in Government Schemes

Commissioner Atul Vishwakarma briefed the councillors about upcoming government surveys aimed at declaring Rajnandgaon ODF++ and a garbage-free city. He requested councillors to mobilize public feedback in support of the initiative. He also outlined the three-phase structure of ‘Sushasan Tihar 2025’ grievance redressal camps.

A Budget That Reflects Public Aspirations

Mayor Yadav emphasized collective responsibility in shaping the city’s development, stating, “A budget is not just a financial document, but a reflection of citizens’ aspirations. Let us work together for the holistic development of Rajnandgaon.”
