Tribute Paid to Martyred ASP in Sukma; Key Directives Issued on Yoga Day, Tribal Outreach, and Monsoon Preparedness

In a weekly review meeting at the Collectorate conference hall, Collector Dr. Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure conducted an in-depth analysis of pending cases across departments. At the beginning of the session, the district officials observed a two-minute silence to pay homage to Additional Superintendent of Police Mr. Akash Rao Giripunje, who was martyred in a recent Naxalite attack in Sukma district.

Dr. Bhure announced that the district will undertake massive plantation activities under the “One Tree in Mother’s Name” campaign, emphasizing the need for advance preparation due to the approaching monsoon. He directed departments to start digging planting pits, arrange manure, and procure saplings from the Forest Department. The Agriculture Department has been asked to plant saplings along field boundaries and homestead gardens. He also stressed the need for fencing and sustained care of the saplings.
In preparation for International Yoga Day on June 21, the Collector instructed the Sports, AYUSH, Education, and Social Welfare departments to coordinate efforts and involve civil society organizations. He emphasized security arrangements at the venue and directed the AYUSH Department to set up thematic stalls.
A major outreach initiative under Dhartii Aaba Jan Bhagidari Abhiyan will be held from June 15 to June 30, aiming to ensure that tribal families receive the benefits of government schemes such as Aadhaar, Ayushman Card, caste certificates, PM-Kisan Yojana, and Jan Dhan accounts. Camps will be organized to directly reach eligible families.
Dr. Bhure also reviewed the Chawal Utsav and stressed that ration distribution must be smooth and well-managed. He instructed SDMs to ensure sufficient availability of fertilizers and seeds in anticipation of the Kharif season. The Water Resources Department was asked to update on irrigation status, and CGMSC was directed to expedite construction at the district hospital.

The meeting also included discussions on the installation of smart meters in government offices, lighting in Digvijay Stadium’s basketball court, and land availability for departmental needs within Rajnandgaon urban limits.
On seasonal disease prevention, the Health Department was instructed to prepare for diarrhea, jaundice, and other monsoon-related illnesses. District Panchayat CEO Ms. Suruchi Singh highlighted the importance of community participation in the Swachhta Utsav and called for preventive awareness and consumption of boiled water.
Other attendees included Additional Collectors Mr. C.L. Markandeya and Mr. Prem Prakash Sharma, Municipal Commissioner Mr. Atul Vishwakarma, SDM Rajnandgaon Mr. Khem Lal Verma, SDM Dongargaon Mr. Manoj Markam, and SDM Dongargarh Mr. Shrikant Korram, among other district officials.
