Hemant Ostwal Demands Full Disclosure of ₹210 Crore AMRUT Mission Expenditure in Rajnandgaon

Location: Rajnandgaon, India

Hemant Ostwal, a former municipal councillor and ex-Chairman of the Revenue Department, who was recently expelled from the Congress party, has demanded that Mayor Madhusudan Yadav release a detailed public report on the ₹210 crore spent under the AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) scheme in Rajnandgaon.

In a strongly worded letter to the Mayor, Ostwal acknowledged Yadav’s ongoing efforts to improve the city’s water supply system, calling them commendable. However, he emphasized that transparency in the execution of the AMRUT Mission is equally critical. “This scheme was approved during your previous tenure as Mayor, but its implementation has been marred by serious allegations of corruption,” Ostwal wrote.

He alleged that the scheme was adversely affected due to collusion between officials and contractors during the tenure of former Mayor Hemadeshmukh. Ostwal particularly pointed fingers at the junior engineer in the water supply department, describing their role as “suspicious.”

Ostwal has demanded that the Detailed Project Report (DPR), work orders, payment records, and information on the remaining funds be made public. He further urged that if any financial discrepancies are found, strict action should be taken against the responsible individuals.

In his letter, Ostwal warned Mayor Yadav that failure to disclose the details would indicate his own involvement or complacency in the alleged corruption. “The public now demands answers. When will the truth behind the AMRUT Mission corruption come to light?” he questioned.

This demand for accountability has intensified political tension in the city, bringing the focus back on transparency and governance in urban development projects.
