Cultural extravaganza to feature traditions, attire, art and cuisine of 43 tribal communities; artists from six states to participate

In a major initiative to celebrate and promote tribal culture, the Chhattisgarh government will organize the grand two-day ‘Aadi Parab 2026’ festival on March 13 and 14 at the Tribal Research and Training Institute (TRTI) campus in Nava Raipur. The event is being organized under the theme “From Tradition to Identity”, aimed at providing a national platform to the rich tribal heritage of the state.
The festival is being held under the vision and direction of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and is being organized by the Tribal Research and Training Institute under the Tribal Development Department, with support from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India.
The details of the event were shared during a press conference held at TRTI by Principal Secretary of the Tribal Development Department Sonmani Bora and TRTI Director Hina Animesh Netam. They said the department, under the guidance of Tribal Development Minister Ramvichar Netam, has been making continuous efforts to ensure the successful organization of the festival.
According to Principal Secretary Bora, the two-day festival will bring together representatives of 43 tribal communities of Chhattisgarh along with tribal artists from Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha, Maharashtra and Jharkhand. The primary objective of the event is to strengthen tribal identity, preserve cultural heritage, and promote traditional knowledge systems.
Traditional Attire of 43 Tribes to be Displayed on One Platform
One of the major highlights of the event will be the “Aadi-Paridhan Tribal Attire Show,” which will showcase the traditional costumes of 43 tribal communities of the state. The show will be held on March 13 from 10:30 AM to 8 PM and March 14 from 4 PM to 8 PM.

For the first time, traditional tribal attire from different communities will be displayed together on a single platform. These garments, created using natural colors, local resources and handcrafted textiles, reflect the tribal lifestyle and their harmonious coexistence with nature. Around 120 participants have already registered online to take part in the attire show.
‘Aadi Rang’ Tribal Painting Festival
Another major attraction of the event will be the “Aadi Rang – Tribal Painting Festival.” Through traditional art forms, tribal artists will depict themes related to water, forests and land, highlighting the tribal worldview and environmental concerns.
A total of 155 participants have registered for the competition. The painting contest will be held in two age categories — 18 to 30 years and above 30 years.
The winners in each category will receive ₹20,000 as the first prize, ₹15,000 as the second prize and ₹10,000 as the third prize. Additionally, 10 participants from each category will receive consolation prizes of ₹2,000 each.
‘Aadi Haat’ to Offer Tribal Crafts and Traditional Cuisine
During the festival, an “Aadi Haat Tribal Craft Fair” will also be organized. The fair will showcase and sell a variety of tribal handicrafts, forest produce and traditional products from Chhattisgarh.
Around 14 tribal groups will set up stalls offering handicrafts and traditional dishes, giving visitors an opportunity to experience authentic tribal flavours and indigenous craftsmanship.
Felicitation of Tribal UPSC Achievers
The event will also honour tribal youth from Chhattisgarh who succeeded in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2025 with support from the department’s schemes. Diamond Singh Dhruv and Ankit Sakni will be felicitated during the program.
On the occasion, students of the ‘Prayas’ institute will also receive laptops under departmental schemes, aimed at encouraging higher education and competitive exam preparation among tribal youth.
Through ‘Aadi Parab 2026’, the state government aims to celebrate the vibrant traditions of tribal communities while creating greater awareness about their cultural heritage, art forms and sustainable lifestyle rooted in nature.
