PMEGP and PMFME initiatives deliver loans and subsidies; 57 new industries generate employment for over 700 people

Effective implementation of Central and State government schemes by the District Trade and Industry Centre (DTIC) is significantly boosting self-employment and industrial development in Rajnandgaon district. Over the past two years, flagship initiatives such as the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) and the Prime Minister’s Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme have enabled a large number of beneficiaries to access loans and subsidies, strengthening local entrepreneurship.
In addition to financial assistance for individual beneficiaries, the establishment of new micro, small, medium and large industries has led to substantial capital investment and provided direct employment to hundreds of people. This expansion has infused fresh momentum into the district’s economic activities.

PMEGP delivers major support to entrepreneurs
Under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), the District Trade and Industry Centre, Rajnandgaon, extended loans to 102 beneficiaries over the last two years. A total subsidy of ₹271.32 lakh was provided under the scheme, enabling aspiring entrepreneurs to establish and expand their ventures.
PMFME boosts food processing units
Similarly, under the Prime Minister’s Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme, 48 beneficiaries received loans during the same period. The scheme facilitated subsidies amounting to ₹223.73 lakh, strengthening micro food processing units and promoting value addition in the local agri-based economy.
57 industries create 720 jobs
As per data from the District Trade and Industry Centre, a total of 57 industries have been established in Rajnandgaon over the past two years, including 9 micro, 40 small, 5 medium and 3 large industries. These units have collectively generated employment for 720 persons.

The industrial expansion has also resulted in significant capital investment. The micro industries attracted an investment of ₹1,107.39 lakh and provided employment to 37 people. Small industries recorded investments of ₹8,443.33 lakh, creating jobs for 337 individuals. Medium industries accounted for ₹5,074.85 lakh in investment with 48 jobs, while large industries contributed ₹6,464.61 lakh in capital investment and provided employment to 298 people.
Officials said the sustained implementation of these schemes is playing a crucial role in promoting entrepreneurship, strengthening the industrial base and generating employment, thereby accelerating inclusive economic growth in Rajnandgaon district.
