Assembly Speaker Dr Raman Singh pays tribute, recalls Bharat Ratna Vajpayee’s enduring contribution to nation-building

The birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee was observed as Good Governance Day at Atal Parisar, Vardhman Nagar, Rajnandgaon, with the participation of Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Dr Raman Singh. On the occasion, Dr Singh offered floral tributes to the life-size statue of Atal Bihari Vajpayee at the premises and paid homage to his legacy.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Raman Singh said that Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai had inaugurated Atal Parisars simultaneously at 115 locations across the state, describing it as a landmark initiative. He recalled Vajpayee’s immense contribution to the development of the country, particularly in strengthening rural and national infrastructure.
Dr Singh highlighted that the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, launched during Vajpayee’s tenure, transformed rural India by connecting villages with all-weather roads. He also referred to the construction of national corridors that linked the country from all directions, significantly boosting economic growth and national integration. Reflecting on Vajpayee’s political journey, Dr Singh said his vision, statesmanship and commitment to democratic values continue to inspire generations.

Member of Parliament Santosh Pandey said the Rajnandgaon Municipal Corporation had developed an impressive Atal Parisar in memory of the former Prime Minister. He described Vajpayee as an outstanding statesman, poet, writer, editor and orator whose contributions to the nation would always be remembered.
Mayor Madhusudan Yadav said that celebrating Vajpayee’s birth anniversary as Good Governance Day serves as a reminder of transparent and people-centric administration. He termed the occasion as memorable and inspirational for citizens.

Several public representatives and officials were present on the occasion, including District Central Cooperative Bank Chairman Sachin Baghel, Chhattisgarh Labour Welfare Board Chairman Yogesh Datt Mishra, social workers Komal Singh Rajput, Khoobchand Parakh, Santosh Agrawal and Saurabh Kothari, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Atul Vishwakarma, corporators and a large number of city residents.
