Former councillor Hemant Ostwal has raised serious concerns over the quality of roads constructed in Rajnandgaon Municipal Corporation at a cost of ₹10 crore. In a public statement, Ostwal alleged that despite expectations of high-quality infrastructure under the leadership of BJP government and Mayor Madhusudan Yadav, the current roadworks reflect widespread corruption and poor workmanship.
Ostwal further accused that during the tenure of former Mayor Hemadeshmukh, similar corruption occurred in road construction projects of the same value. According to him, no action was taken against the contractors due to alleged protection by Municipal Commissioner and Executive Engineer U.K. Ramteke.
Expressing disappointment over the lack of improvement under the current administration, Ostwal urged Mayor Yadav to conduct a physical inspection of the roads, document it through media and videography, and take strict action against corrupt contractors by withholding their payments. He also appealed for the appointment of responsible contractors to ensure quality roads are built before the onset of monsoon.
