The Department of Economics at Government Digvijay Autonomous Postgraduate College recently hosted an insightful guest lecture on the theme “India’s Monetary Policy and Its Recent Revisions.” The event was held under the guidance of Principal Dr. Suchitra Gupta and leadership of Head of Department Dr. Sumita Srivastava.
The keynote speaker for the session was Dr. Aparna Ghosh, Assistant Professor at St. Thomas College, Bhilai, who provided a comprehensive overview of the Reserve Bank of India’s approach to managing the flow of currency in the economy. She detailed tools like CRR (Cash Reserve Ratio), SLR (Statutory Liquidity Ratio), Repo Rate, and Reverse Repo Rate, and explained how these instruments are used to control inflation and liquidity.
Dr. Ghosh also discussed the significance of contractionary and expansionary monetary policies, offering students a clear and practical understanding of these complex concepts. The lecture aimed to bridge academic learning with real-world applications in economic governance.
The event was skillfully anchored by Dr. Meena Prasad, who also delivered the vote of thanks at the conclusion. In her welcome address, Dr. Sumita Srivastava highlighted the department’s ongoing academic activities and emphasized the importance of understanding dynamic financial systems.
The lecture saw enthusiastic participation from faculty members, including guest lecturers Dr. Khemarani Dubey and Dr. Dinesh Prasad, along with a large number of students.
