Accused arrested under Excise Act as district administration intensifies crackdown on illegal liquor trade

In a continued drive against illegal liquor trading, the Excise Department seized 6.300 bulk litres of Maharashtra-manufactured country liquor during an enforcement action in Rajnandgaon district.
The operation was carried out under the directions of Collector and District Magistrate Jitendra Yadav. Providing details, In-charge Assistant Commissioner of Excise Abhishek Tiwari said that the seizure took place near Belargondi Chowk under Gendatola police station limits.
During the action, excise officials intercepted Yash Chimurkar, a resident of Korchi, under Korchi police station in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra. From his possession, 35 pouches of “Santri” brand country liquor, amounting to a total of 6.300 bulk litres, were recovered.
The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Excise Act and arrested. Further legal proceedings are being carried out as per prescribed norms.

The seizure operation was conducted by Excise Sub-Inspector Rajkumar Kurre (Chichola Circle), along with Excise Head Constables Nizam Shah and Lalsingh Rajput, and Anil Sinha.
Excise officials stated that regular inspections of hotels, dhabas and licensed liquor shops are being conducted across the district to curb illegal sale and transportation of alcohol. All circle in-charges have been instructed to ensure continuous monitoring and take strict action against violators to prevent unlawful liquor trade.
The district administration reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order and preventing the illegal sale of intoxicants.
