Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh participated in the grand celebration of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s birth anniversary on April 14 at the Dr. Ambedkar Bhawan, Civil Lines, Rajnandgaon. The event commenced with a collective reading of the Preamble to the Constitution of India, signifying a shared commitment to justice, liberty, and equality.

In his address, Dr. Singh paid rich tributes to Dr. Ambedkar, describing him as a “mahamanav” (great human being) who brought light and enthusiasm into the lives of millions. “Dr. Ambedkar gave every section of society a reason to live with self-respect. His teachings of equality, fraternity, and justice continue to inspire us to become educated, stay united, and fight for our rights,” said Dr. Singh.
Responding to a request from the Buddhist Welfare Committee, Dr. Singh announced a grant of ₹10 lakh to support the community’s initiatives.
He emphasized Dr. Ambedkar’s monumental contribution to Indian democracy, stating, “It is enough to say that the man who gave us the Constitution will be remembered for ages. Our Constitution not only grants rights and power but also instills a sense of duty. It offers reservation to backward communities and ensures equality and dignity for all.”
Highlighting India’s cultural and linguistic diversity, Dr. Singh noted that the Constitution has served as the unifying force holding the nation together since independence. “India is home to over 500 languages and numerous ideologies. Yet, through the Constitution crafted by Dr. Ambedkar, we have stayed united and strong from 1947 to 2025. This powerful document will continue to guide the nation and its people toward progress,” he added.

The event also featured a welcome address by Mr. Kanti Kumar Phule, President of the Buddhist Welfare Committee, Rajnandgaon. Dignitaries present at the event included Mayor Mr. Madhusudan Yadav, Mr. Komal Singh Rajput, keynote speaker Mr. R.
