Collector Mr. Jitendra Yadav inaugurated the Mass Drug Administration (MDA) campaign under the Filaria Elimination Programme by consuming the anti-filarial medicine at the Collectorate Conference Hall. The campaign is being conducted across the district from February 10 to February 25, 2026.
Launching the drive, the Collector directed health officials to not only distribute the medicines but also ensure that beneficiaries consume them. He urged all departments to coordinate and actively support the campaign to achieve maximum coverage. Appealing to eligible citizens, he encouraged them to take the anti-filarial medicine provided by health workers to protect themselves from the disease.

Chief Medical and Health Officer-cum-District Malaria Officer Dr. Netram Navratan informed that filariasis is a chronic and potentially disabling disease that can be effectively prevented through regular consumption of prescribed medicines. He stated that the medicines distributed under the MDA campaign are completely safe, effective and recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO).
During the campaign, health workers are conducting door-to-door visits to ensure that all eligible individuals consume the anti-filarial drugs. Dr. Navratan explained that in some cases, mild symptoms such as low-grade fever, headache, nausea, fatigue or restlessness may appear after taking the medicine. These reactions are temporary and may occur due to the destruction of microfilariae present in the body. Such symptoms generally subside on their own, and there is no need for concern.

Officials and staff members present at the launch event consumed the medicine to motivate the general public. The MDA campaign has also been launched at the block level across all development blocks, including Community Health Centres (CHCs), Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and Sub-Health Centres, with participation from public representatives, officials, health workers and community members.
The district administration has urged residents to cooperate fully with health teams and contribute to the collective goal of eliminating filariasis.
