Directs staff to ensure cleanliness, quality care for patients and courteous behaviour with attendants

District Collector Jitendra Yadav conducted a surprise inspection of the Government District Hospital located in Basantpur on Saturday to review healthcare facilities and services being provided to patients.
During the inspection, the Collector sought detailed information from hospital authorities regarding the treatment facilities, patient care services, and overall management of the hospital. He directed officials to ensure proper cleanliness and hygiene throughout the hospital premises so that patients receive treatment in a safe and healthy environment.

The Collector also instructed authorities to shift the hospital kitchen to its designated location and ensure better sanitation standards in the food preparation area. He emphasized maintaining strict hygiene practices in the kitchen and directed staff to keep a daily register of meals prepared and distributed to patients. Regular monitoring of food distribution was also advised to ensure quality and transparency.
Special emphasis was placed on providing quality healthcare services to ANC (Antenatal Care) patients. The Collector directed medical staff to ensure proper care and monitoring of pregnant women admitted to the hospital. He also instructed officials to display necessary Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials in the ANC ward to raise awareness among patients regarding maternal health and nutrition.

During the inspection, the Collector reviewed the functioning of the Major Operation Theatre (OT) and directed hospital authorities to initiate necessary procedures for its relocation in accordance with prescribed medical standards. He also instructed the staff to ensure the availability and proper functioning of all essential medical equipment in the operation theatre.
The Collector further emphasized the importance of maintaining an adequate supply of medicines in the hospital. He directed officials to ensure that, along with regular medicines, sufficient stock of drugs related to non-communicable diseases (NCDs) is also available for patients.

Interacting with patients and their family members admitted to the hospital, the Collector inquired about the facilities and services being provided. He instructed doctors and hospital staff to maintain a polite, compassionate, and cooperative attitude toward patients and their attendants, stressing that humane behaviour is an essential aspect of quality healthcare.
Officials present during the inspection assured that all instructions issued by the Collector would be implemented promptly to improve hospital services and patient care.
