The Chamber of Commerce has submitted a memorandum to the Superintendent of Police in support of local trader Mahesh Makhija, who has accused Metro Refrigeration, Ghaziabad of defrauding him of ₹2.02 crore.

According to Chamber President Kamlesh Baid and senior advisor Raja Makhija, the amount was paid via cheque by Makhija for the construction of a cold storage facility. However, despite receiving the funds, the proprietor of Metro Refrigeration, Sukhwinder Singh, allegedly delayed the project for over 18 months.

The matter was brought before the CSP office on July 11, 2025, where the Ghaziabad businessman reportedly admitted to the liability and sought 15 days’ time for repayment. Yet, when contacted after the deadline, he allegedly began evading the commitment.

Chamber leaders expressed concern over the situation, questioning how a written and oral acknowledgment before the police could still be ignored without consequence. They urged the administration to take swift action in favor of the local businessman and initiate proceedings against the accused.

The delegation included Raja Makhija, Bhiman Dhanwani, Alok Bindal, Amar Lalwani, Tarun Lahrwani, Rajkumar Bafna, Arun Dulani, Deepak Navlakha, Pawan Gansani, Sanjay Tejwani, Ravi Wadhwani, Prakash Wadhwani, and Mahesh Makhija himself.
