On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Emergency imposed in 1975, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) organized a state-level mock parliament in Raipur, as part of a nationwide campaign held at 100 locations to sensitize youth about the value of democracy and constitutional rights.

The Raipur event witnessed the presence of prominent leaders including Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao, cabinet ministers, senior BJP leaders, and hundreds of BJYM workers and office bearers.
As part of the program, 70 selected students from across Chhattisgarh enacted a live mock parliamentary session, simulating democratic processes and debates. Representing Rajnandgaon, Shivam Yadav and Sanyam Sharma from Digvijay College took active roles in the parliamentary proceedings.

Speaking on the occasion, BJYM Rajnandgaon District President Monu Bahadur Singh stated, “The Emergency of 1975 was a dark chapter in Indian democracy, imposed by the dictatorial mindset of the Congress government. During that period, the fundamental rights of citizens were suspended, freedom of expression was crushed, and hundreds of political leaders were imprisoned without trial.”
The speakers urged the youth to remain ever vigilant in defending democratic values and the Constitution. The event served as a powerful reminder of the past, highlighting how fragile democracy can become in the absence of public awareness and participation.
The delegation from Rajnandgaon included district-level BJYM leaders and volunteers such as Neeraj Yadav, Anurag Chaurasia, Durgesh Sahu, Divya Golu Suryavanshi, DKesh Sahu, Vivek Sharma, Pintu Verma, Deva Jha, Gyanesh Gupta, Ashutosh Singh, Manish Sahu, Prakhar Srivastava, Sajja Singh Thakur, and many others who represented the district with great enthusiasm.
