“Birsa Munda’s sacrifice will never be forgotten” – Dr. Singh

Wishing everyone on Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, Dr. Raman Singh said the message from this celebration is resonating across 700 districts of India: that the nation will forever remember the unparalleled sacrifice of Bhagwan Birsa Munda.
He recalled that Birsa Munda led a fierce tribal uprising against British injustice, mobilising the youth of Jharkhand and inspiring millions across Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and several other regions. The brutal repression carried out by the British to crush this movement is a dark chapter of colonial history.

Rapid progress in tribal regions under PM Modi’s vision

Dr. Singh stated that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, the government is committed to transforming tribal areas by expanding road networks into remote regions and launching welfare programmes that directly uplift tribal families.
He highlighted several key achievements:

  • 18 lakh houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana,
of which 7 lakh houses have been allotted to tribal families.
  • Substantial reduction in malnutrition, poverty, and migration due to the Food Security Scheme.
  • Increase in tendupatta collection wages from ₹4,000 to ₹5,500 under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai.
  • Accelerated development of drinking water, electricity, and essential services in tribal villages.

He added that areas with over 50% tribal population are receiving focused development under the Dhartia Aba Yojana, prioritising drinking water, education, ration distribution, healthcare, and infrastructure.

“Our culture and identity are tied to our soil”

Dr. Singh emphasized that India’s pride, heritage, and identity are rooted in its culture and traditions, safeguarded through the sacrifices of brave tribal heroes like Birsa Munda. He added that Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas serves as a reminder to honour ancestors whose contributions may have been forgotten over time.
