Basantpur Police Arrest Three Accused Who Assaulted Man for Money to Buy Liquor

Swift action leads to the arrest of absconding youths involved in demanding money for alcohol and assaulting a passerby near Gaurav Path in Rajnandgaon.

In a swift and decisive action, Basantpur Police have arrested three absconding accused involved in demanding money for alcohol and assaulting a local resident. All three were taken into custody and produced before the court under judicial remand.

The incident occurred on 30 November 2025 when the complainant was heading from his home towards the market. Near Gaurav Path, three youths arrived on a motorcycle and demanded money from him to buy liquor. When he refused, the accused began assaulting him with fists and punches. The victim immediately reached the police station and filed a complaint.

Based on his report, Basantpur Police registered Crime No. 573/25 under Sections 296, 115(2), 351(2), and 119(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and began an investigation. The victim’s medical examination was also conducted to document his injuries.

Taking the matter seriously, Superintendent of Police Ms. Ankita Sharma (IPS) directed prompt action, supported by Additional SP Mr. Rahul Dev Sharma, City SP Ms. Vaishali Jain (IPS) and Mr. Pushpendra Nayak. A special team was formed for the arrest of the accused.

Under the leadership of Inspector Aman Sahu, the Basantpur Police team conducted raids at various suspected locations. The three accused were taken into custody and, during interrogation, confessed to their involvement in the offence. They were subsequently arrested and produced before the Hon’ble Court.

2️⃣ Pintu Markam, 28, resident of Basantpur
3️⃣ Vijay Bharti, 28, resident of Kaurinbhatha, Basantpur

Officers Involved:

Inspector Aman Sahu, ASI Govardhan Deshmukh, Head Constable Deepak Jaiswal, Constables Jamindar Verma, Praveen Meshram, Kush Baghel, and Ashish Manikpuri played commendable roles in the operation.
