District Education Officer (DEO) Mr. Pravas Singh Baghel has suspended Assistant Teacher (Lab Science) Mr. Razzak Qureshi for allegedly provoking schoolchildren to block the road in Chhuriya Basti. The suspension was ordered following reports of misconduct during his attachment at Government High School, Kurmda Charbhatha under Chhuriya development block.
According to official information, Mr. Qureshi was earlier posted at PM Shri Swami Atmanand English and Hindi Medium School, Chhuriya. Despite being appointed as a Lab Science teacher, he was assigned to teach Accountancy, even though two commerce lecturers were already available in the institution. Following complaints by public representatives regarding this irregular deployment, Mr. Qureshi was recently attached to the nearby Government High School, Kurmda Charbhatha.
However, soon after his attachment, he allegedly instigated students to stage a road blockade in Chhuriya Basti — an act that the education department has termed a serious breach of discipline and a violation of service conduct rules expected from a government teacher.

Upon receiving information about the blockade, the DEO instructed the school principal and the Block Education Officer to immediately reach the spot. The officers intervened, counselled the children, and sent them back to school. Later, the DEO personally visited PM Shri Swami Atmanand School in Chhuriya and issued strict advisories to the teaching staff to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
In addition to Mr. Qureshi’s suspension, the DEO has issued show-cause notices to the in-charge principal, Mr. Yogesh Sahu, and commerce lecturer, Mrs. Manisha Sahare, seeking explanations regarding their responsibility and oversight in the matter.
The swift action by the Education Department is being viewed as a strong message aimed at safeguarding academic discipline and ensuring a secure and responsible school environment.
