District Administration Intensifies Monitoring of Fertilizer Distribution

Following the directions of Collector Shri Jitendra Yadav, the Agriculture Department has been conducting continuous inspections and enforcement actions across the district to ensure the smooth, transparent and fair distribution of fertilizers through cooperative and private sector channels.

The initiative aims to guarantee the availability of fertilizers to farmers at prescribed rates while preventing illegal hoarding and black marketing.

Surprise Inspection at Devangan Krishi Kendra

As part of the ongoing drive, an Agriculture Department team conducted a surprise inspection at Devangan Krishi Kendra in Ghumka under Rajnandgaon development block.

During the inspection, officials found 39 bags of DAP fertilizer, 24 bags of 20:20:0:13 fertilizer and 8 bags of 28:28:0 fertilizer stored without supporting records or valid documentation. The stock was prima facie found to be unauthorized.

Violations of Fertilizer Control Regulations

The inspection team further observed that DAP fertilizer had been stored at a location other than the designated storage premises, constituting a violation of the provisions of the Fertilizer (Control) Order, 1985.

Statements of farmers present at the site were also recorded. According to the information gathered, DAP fertilizer was allegedly being sold at Rs 2,400 per bag, while urea was reportedly being sold at Rs 700 per bag.

Complaints regarding the sale of fertilizers above the prescribed rates were treated seriously by the authorities.

Sales Premises Sealed

After identifying violations of various provisions of the Fertilizer (Control) Order, 1985, the Agriculture Department initiated action and sealed the sales premises of the concerned fertilizer dealer.

The enforcement operation was carried out by Fertilizer Inspector Shri Avinash Dubey and Rural Agriculture Extension Officer Shri Mithlesh Sahu.

Action Against Another Fertilizer Dealer

In a separate case, the Agriculture Department conducted a surprise inspection at Shri Ram Krishi Kendra, Arjuni, following complaints received against the establishment.

During the inspection, officials found several irregularities, including failure to issue bills to customers, improper maintenance of records and sale of fertilizers without verifying the required documents.

Seven-Day Restriction Imposed

In view of the irregularities detected, the department imposed a seven-day restriction on fertilizer sales and initiated seizure-custody proceedings. A formal notice was also issued to the dealer for further action.

Department Vows Continued Enforcement

The Agriculture Department stated that such inspections and enforcement measures will continue in the future to safeguard farmers’ interests and curb black marketing, overpricing and hoarding of fertilizers.

Officials reiterated their commitment to ensuring that farmers receive fertilizers in a transparent and regulated manner during the agricultural season.
