The 5th Rudraksham Welfare Society Chhattisgarh Hockey League All India Hockey Tournament witnessed thrilling encounters on its second day, with three high-intensity matches played across women’s and boys’ categories. Uttar Pradesh secured a place in the semifinals, while the State Centre of Excellence, Bilaspur, registered a narrow yet dramatic victory over Amravati.

In the women’s category, Deendayal Challengers defeated Chikhli Dragons in a closely contested match. After the regulation time ended in a 2–2 draw, Deendayal Challengers clinched the win 3–2 in a shootout. Ghanishtha Sahu and Kanak Markam scored for Deendayal, while Pushpita Sahu and Roshni Patel found the net for Chikhli Dragons.

In the boys’ category, Uttar Pradesh dominated hosts Rajnandgaon with a convincing 6–2 victory. Goals for Uttar Pradesh came from Himanshu, Puneet Pal, Devendra Singh, Nitin, Lucky and Shivam, while Shubham Sahu and Narendra Nishad scored for Rajnandgaon.

The most exciting match of the day was played between the State Centre of Excellence, Bilaspur, and Amravati (Maharashtra). Bilaspur emerged victorious with a 6–5 scoreline. Om Yadav starred with four goals, while Anand Suryavanshi added two. For Amravati, Ujjair Mohammad scored all five goals in a remarkable individual performance.

Special awards were also presented during the event. Anurag Kapkar, a resident of Deendayal Ward No. 06, received the SECL Best Spectator Award. Outstanding players were honoured with Flash hockey sticks. In the girls’ category, Ghanishtha Sahu and Pushpita Sahu were recognised for their excellent performances, while Anand Suryavanshi (Bilaspur) and Himanshu (Uttar Pradesh) were named Best Players of the Match in the boys’ category.

Meanwhile, a grand cultural evening titled “Rudraksham Night” will be organised today in honour of the visiting players. Rajnandgaon MP Santosh Pandey is scheduled to inaugurate the newly installed floodlights during the event.
