Officials Hail Local Initiatives as Model for Rural Development and Water Conservation

A delegation of officials and staff from seven states – Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Bihar, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra – visited Rajnandgaon to observe innovative and exemplary works under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). The delegation toured Gram Panchayats Anjora, Barga, and Farhad to assess the impact of ongoing projects.

At Gram Panchayat Anjora, the delegation observed plantation drives, mini percolation tanks, construction of dabris, and activities at the multi-activity center. In Gram Panchayat Barga, officials inspected mini percolation tanks with injection wells, plantation projects, sand filters, rainwater harvesting systems, greywater treatment plants, solid and liquid waste management, and community soak pits. Gram Panchayat Farhad showcased percolation tanks, injection wells, borewell excavation, and handpump installations.

The visiting officials praised the initiatives, calling them exemplary and inspirational for replication in other states. They noted that these projects not only promote water conservation and natural resource enhancement at the village level but also contribute significantly to sustainable rural development and improved livelihoods.
The inspection was attended by officials from SIRD, the State Office, District and Janpad Panchayats of Rajnandgaon, along with supporting staff.
