International Sign Language Day Celebrated at CRC Thakurtola

Event Highlights Inclusion and Awareness; Deaf and Hearing-Impaired Students Showcase Performances and Learn Basic Sign Language Skills

The CRC Thakurtola marked International Sign Language Day with a special program on September 23, as part of the International Week of the Deaf, being observed from September 22 to 26, 2025.

The event began with the national anthem and state song performed by deaf and hearing-impaired students of Aastha School and DISLI course trainees. CRC Director Smita Mahobia underlined the importance of sign language in empowering the deaf community, promoting cultural diversity, and ensuring inclusivity in society.

Trainers Vivek Soni and Rahul Kumar conducted a session on basic sign language for Aastha School students and teachers, covering greetings, emotional expressions, and colors. The program witnessed active participation from faculty members including Anil Kumar Banjare, DISLI coordinator Gajendra Kumar Sahu, and teachers along with students of Aastha Deaf School.

Coordinated by Vivek Soni, the event emphasized sign language as a bridge to inclusion and equal opportunities for differently-abled individuals.
