Mayor Madhusudan Yadav Vows Preservation of Triveni Campus, Calls Mishra a Pillar of Hindi Literature

The literary legacy of Dr. Baldev Prasad Mishra, one of Hindi literature’s most revered figures, was celebrated in Rajnandgaon as citizens, academicians, and civic leaders gathered at the Triveni Campus to mark his 127th birth anniversary. The floral tribute program was organized under the joint auspices of Kanyakubj Sabha Rajnandgaon and Nandgaon Sahitya evam Sanskriti Parishad.
The solemn event began with the garlanding of Dr. Mishra’s statue by Mayor Madhusudan Yadav, who attended as the chief guest. In his address, Yadav praised the monumental contributions of Dr. Mishra, stating, “Because of Dr. Mishra, Rajnandgaon earned a distinct recognition in the field of literature. His works made our city synonymous with literary excellence.”

The Mayor further recalled the visionary role of former Chief Minister and current Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh in conceiving the Triveni Campus, remarking that it was during Singh’s leadership that the project came to fruition. “Triveni Campus is a cultural treasure for Rajnandgaon. Since it was envisioned by Dr. Raman Singh, we remain firmly committed to its preservation and development,” he assured.
Community Voices Concerns, Mayor Promises Action
During the ceremony, Kanyakubj Sabha President Pradeep Mishra, grandson of Dr. Mishra and a retired DSP, submitted a request to the Mayor for immediate construction of protective roofing over statues, beautification of the premises, maintenance of cleanliness, and tighter security to curb antisocial elements. Responding to these concerns, Mayor Yadav assured swift action, promising that the demands would be addressed in the public interest.
Literary Luminaries Highlight Mishra’s Legacy
Professor Shankarmuni Rai, Head of the Hindi Department at Digvijay College, described Dr. Mishra as one of the greatest contributors to the Ram Kāvya tradition in Hindi literature. “He was a divine-like literary figure whose writings shaped generations. His devotion to literature placed Rajnandgaon on the cultural map of India,” Rai said.

Other distinguished participants included Sanjay Srivastava, advocate and grandson of scholar Pandit P. P. Bakshi; Ward Councillor Raja Makhija; senior councillor Santosh Pille; Akhilesh Tiwari, President of Nandgaon Sahitya evam Sanskriti Parishad; D. C. Jain, President of Shivnath Tāt Kshetriya Vikas Samiti; Professor R. P. Dixit, patron of Kanyakubj Sabha; and several community leaders such as A. K. Shukla, Krishna Kant Tiwari, V. D. Tiwari, Shailendra Shukla, Sushil Tiwari, Vivek Shukla, and others.
The event also saw enthusiastic participation from ward residents, members of cultural associations, and college students who gathered to honor the legacy of the late literary giant.

Dr. Baldev Prasad Mishra is remembered as one of the foremost literary figures of his era, particularly for his contributions to Ram Kāvya literature. His writings, deeply rooted in cultural and spiritual traditions, continue to influence literary studies and inspire readers. Mayor Yadav emphasized that the preservation of such heritage sites as Triveni Campus is not just about maintaining structures, but about sustaining the cultural identity of the city. “Our commitment is to ensure that future generations inherit not only a clean and well-maintained campus, but also the values and inspiration embodied by Dr. Mishra’s life and works,” he said.

The program concluded with a collective pledge to uphold the ideals and vision of Dr. Baldev Prasad Mishra. The presence of students highlighted the continuing relevance of his legacy, as the younger generation was introduced to the literary contributions of one of India’s great cultural icons.
