Rajnandgaon Ensures Fair Fertiliser Distribution to Farmers, Cracks Down on Overpricing and Hoarding

Agriculture Department conducts inspections across private sale centres; action taken against 42 outlets for irregularities

Acting on the directives of Collector Dr. Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure, the Agriculture Department in Rajnandgaon district is ensuring uninterrupted supply of chemical fertilisers to farmers at government-approved prices, while intensifying action against overpricing, hoarding, and black-marketing.

Deputy Director of Agriculture Tikam Thakur stated that Rural Agriculture Extension Officers have been deployed at private fertiliser sale centres across the district to oversee distribution and ensure farmers receive their supplies at fixed rates. Regular inspections and continuous monitoring of private outlets are being carried out.

As part of this drive, in Dongargaon development block, Messrs. Sadguru Krishi Kendra, Matia, and Messrs. Vidyashree Krishi Kendra, Dongargaon, distributed 165 bags of urea to 110 farmers in the presence of Fertiliser Inspector & Agriculture Development Officer Sandeep Vaishnav and Rural Agriculture Extension Officer Lalit Sahu. In Rajnandgaon development block, Messrs. Varun Krishi Kendra, Janglesar, distributed 43 bags of urea at the fixed price of ₹266.50 per bag to over 50 farmers in the presence of Rural Agriculture Extension Officer Rajni Sonteke.

Thakur further informed that inspections so far have led to 42 fertiliser outlets receiving notices, two FIRs lodged against suppliers, and one licence suspension for violations. Against a target of 75,898 metric tonnes for the district, 61,557 metric tonnes of fertilisers have been stocked at cooperative and private centres, with 58,023 metric tonnes already distributed to farmers.

The Agriculture Department assured that storage and distribution will continue in the coming days to meet demand and urged farmers to purchase chemical fertilisers strictly at government-notified prices.
