A high-level review meeting was held in Rajnandgaon under the chairmanship of senior district officials to assess the implementation and progress of various government schemes across multiple departments. The meeting brought together key stakeholders, including Additional Collectors, Municipal Commissioner, SDMs, and heads of departments, who discussed the performance and challenges faced in the sectors of health, forestry, women and child development, public health engineering, electricity, rural engineering, energy, and education.

The health department’s agenda included a thorough review of the ongoing activities related to the Ayushman Card and Ayushman Vay Vandana Card schemes. Officials discussed the effective deployment of mobile medical vans and the current status of outpatient departments (OPDs) along with medicine management protocols. Emphasis was placed on the functioning of public medicine centers, crucial for providing affordable medication, and the diagnosis and treatment facilities available for sickle cell disease—a significant health concern in the region.

Forestry department representatives updated the meeting on the progress of the CAMP A (Compensatory Afforestation Management and Planning Authority) scheme, which focuses on afforestation to compensate for forest land diverted for development projects. Additionally, they reported on the tendupatta (tendu leaf) collection season, an important source of livelihood for forest workers, and the Charan Paduka scheme, which promotes traditional forest-based employment.

The Women and Child Development Department highlighted the implementation of schemes aimed at improving maternal and child welfare. These included the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, and the Chief Minister Kanya Vivah Yojana, all targeting financial and social support for women and girls, contributing to enhanced health, education, and empowerment outcomes.

In infrastructure and public utilities, the Public Health Engineering Department provided an update on the Jal Jeevan Mission, a flagship program to ensure every rural household has access to potable water through tap connections. Officials discussed the progress of household-level water supply connections and the current water levels in the district’s reservoirs and dams, emphasizing sustainable water resource management.

The Electricity Department reviewed the implementation of the Prime Minister’s Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme aimed at providing free electricity to eligible households. The availability of transformers, installation schedules, and progress on the revamped distribution sector scheme were also analyzed to improve power supply reliability across urban and rural areas.

Rural engineering services presented updates on the construction of Mahtari Sadan, community centers that serve as focal points for women’s self-help groups and local governance activities. The CREDA department briefed on the Kusum scheme, which encourages farmers to adopt solar-based irrigation and energy solutions, promoting sustainable agriculture and energy use.

Education department officials outlined innovations and initiatives aimed at improving education quality, including progress under the PM Shree School scheme, which seeks to upgrade school infrastructure and learning outcomes.

The meeting was attended by Additional Collectors Shri C.L. Markandeya and Shri Prem Prakash Sharma, Municipal Commissioner Shri Atul Vishwakarma, SDMs Shri Khem Lal Verma (Rajnandgaon), Shri Shrikant Koram (Dongargaon), Shri Abhishek Tiwari (Dongargarh), and other senior officials. They reviewed reports, identified bottlenecks, and laid down directives to accelerate progress while maintaining quality standards.

The district administration reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring effective implementation of all government schemes, enhancing public service delivery, and fostering holistic development across Rajnandgaon’s urban and rural areas. Special emphasis was placed on coordination among departments, transparency, social audits, and the involvement of elected representatives and community organizations.

This meeting reflects the district’s proactive approach towards governance, aiming to meet and exceed targets set by the state and central governments, thereby improving the quality of life of its residents.
