The Food Safety Department in Rajnandgaon has ramped up its inspection activities in recent years, demonstrating unwavering commitment to public health. In a recent move, officials collected food samples from Sahu Hotel located near Lalbagh police station and sent them for laboratory analysis.

Notably, the department had previously taken samples from prominent establishments like Manav Mandir without hesitation, signaling a strict no-compromise stance on food safety.

With the onset of summer, the market sees a flood of new beverages, raising concerns about their quality. In this context, the Food Safety and Drug Administration Department in Rajnandgaon district has intensified routine inspections. As part of this initiative, they have been collecting samples of key food and beverage items for quality testing.

Recently, packaged drinking water, water pouches, and soft drinks such as Pepsi sold in rural areas have been sampled and sent to the laboratory for quality examination.

Additional samples collected include:

  • Ganga Sweets: Aloo Masala
  • Panchmukhi Paratha: Jackfruit and Chana Masala
  • Singh Hotel: Biryani Rice

These samples have also been dispatched for laboratory testing.

Post-analysis, appropriate action will be taken based on the laboratory findings. It is noteworthy that since last month, six firms have been penalized with monetary fines up to ₹50,000 by the Honourable Court for violations related to food safety standards.

During inspections, hotel, dhaba, and restaurant operators are being strictly advised to maintain hygiene and cleanliness at their premises to avoid punitive measures.
