Maa Bamleshwari Darshan: Traffic Advisory Issued for Navratri, Heavy Vehicles Restricted in Rajnandgaon

Special Traffic Arrangements from October 11 to 19; Dedicated Routes for Pedestrians and Designated Parking Facilities in Dongargarh

In view of the expected arrival of lakhs of devotees from Chhattisgarh and other states for darshan at Maa Bamleshwari Temple in Dongargarh during the Kwar Navratri festival, Rajnandgaon Traffic Police has issued a special traffic advisory for October 11 to 19, 2026.

The arrangements aim to ensure the safety and convenience of devotees while maintaining smooth traffic movement during the festival.

Entry of Heavy Vehicles into Rajnandgaon City Restricted

The entry of heavy vehicles into Rajnandgaon city will remain restricted during Navratri.

  • Vehicles arriving from Durg, Dhamtari and Balod: They will use the Gunderdehi–Arjunda–Surgi–Haldi bypass route.
  • Heavy vehicles from Balod: They will be diverted through Mohara Bypass.
  • Vehicles arriving from Khairagarh: They will be diverted through Gathula.
  • Heavy vehicles travelling on NH-53: They will be diverted towards Transport Nagar and the CIT Bypass.

Movement of heavy vehicles travelling from Chichola through Lalbahadur Nagar towards Dongargarh will remain prohibited.

If traffic congestion increases on NH-53, vehicles arriving from Raipur will also be able to use the Khuteri–Bharregaon–Mokhla–Surgi–Haldi route.

Dedicated Routes for Pedestrians

As per the administration’s directions, a section on the right side of NH-53, from Anjora to Ramdarbar in the Nagpur-to-Raipur direction, will be reserved for pedestrians travelling on foot. A one-way traffic arrangement will remain in effect during this period.

The designated pedestrian route from Rajnandgaon city to Dongargarh will pass through:

Ramdarbar → Agrawal Transport → Tankapara → Wesleyan School → Old Rest House Road → Baldev Bagh → BNC Mill → Sangam Chowk, Tulsipur → Bakhtawar Chawl Lane → Motipur Railway Underbridge → Nawagaon → Litiya → Sukul Dahaan → Musra → Belgaon → Achholi → Dongargarh.

Devotees travelling on foot have been advised to use the designated route and exercise caution while crossing roads.

Parking Arrangements for Devotees from Different Directions

The Traffic Police has designated separate parking areas for devotees arriving from different routes.

From Rajnandgaon: Car and motorcycle users travelling towards Dongargarh can proceed via Tumdibod–Murmunda–Badhiyatola and park at Kshir Pani and Gurudwara parking areas. While returning, vehicles can reach NH-53 via the Murmunda–Uraidabri route.

From Nagpur and Boritalav: Parking has been designated at the ground near the old Nehru College and the Gaushala parking area. Two-wheeler riders arriving from Boritalav can use the Municipal Council parking facility.

From Khairagarh: Devotees will be able to park their vehicles at the High School and the area near Nehru College.

Vehicles returning from Gurudwara and Kshir Pani parking areas will use the Murmunda–Uraidabri route to reach NH-53. Vehicles heading towards Raipur should take the left-side route, while those travelling towards Nagpur should use the right-side route.

Traffic Police Issues Safety Advisory

The Traffic Police has appealed to devotees and motorists to follow the prescribed routes, diversions and parking arrangements.

Vehicle users have been advised to:

  • Follow traffic signs and instructions issued by police personnel.
  • Use designated pedestrian routes and exercise caution while crossing roads.
  • Wear helmets while riding two-wheelers and seat belts while travelling in cars.
  • Observe prescribed speed limits.
  • Avoid driving while using mobile phones or under the influence of intoxicating substances.

The Traffic Police has clarified that the arrangements may be modified as required, depending on the number of devotees, traffic pressure and prevailing security conditions.

Citizens have been urged to cooperate with the police and personnel deployed on duty to help maintain safe and smooth traffic movement throughout the Navratri festival.
