Eight youths booked under Arms Act for carrying knives; 11 others face preventive action during immersion procession

Rajnandgaon Police maintained extensive security arrangements during the Ganesh immersion tableau to ensure peace, public safety and law and order across the city. As part of the security measures, police kept a close watch on habitual offenders, monitored criminals and anti-social elements and took legal action against individuals found carrying potentially dangerous weapons in public places.
Police initiated action under the Arms Act against eight suspected youths who were found moving around with knives.
In addition, preventive action was taken against 11 accused persons in nine cases under provisions applicable to individuals considered likely to affect law and order.
Over 1,000 Metal and Iron Bangles Removed
Considering the large presence of devotees and spectators during the tableau, police adopted additional precautionary measures to minimise the possibility of any untoward incident.
During the security checks, iron and metal bangles worn by more than 1,000 people were removed.
The measure was undertaken as part of the security arrangements in view of the large crowds gathered to witness the Ganesh immersion procession.
Police Remain Deployed for Security and Traffic Management
A large number of devotees and spectators arrived in Rajnandgaon not only from within the district but also from other districts and neighbouring states to witness the Ganesh immersion tableau.
In view of the massive gathering, police personnel remained continuously deployed for security, traffic management and maintenance of law and order.
Various police teams maintained continuous surveillance over suspicious activities and initiated immediate legal action wherever required.
Police Personnel to Receive Cash Rewards
Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma appreciated the police personnel who carried out notable and exemplary work in cases registered under the Arms Act.
The Superintendent of Police announced a cash reward of ₹500 for police personnel who took effective action against individuals carrying knives and demonstrated outstanding performance in the discharge of their duties.
She also encouraged the personnel to continue working with the same level of alertness, dedication and promptness.
Ganesh Immersion Tableau Concludes Peacefully
According to Rajnandgaon Police, the vigilance, preparedness and effective action by the police helped ensure that the Ganesh immersion tableau concluded peacefully.
