Muni Shreyanshprabh Sagar Ji, a disciple of Khartargachchh Gachchhadhipati Maniprabha Sagar Ji, said that expectations often make a person unhappy, while hope brings positivity and happiness into life.
Speaking during the ongoing Chaturmas discourses at the Gyan Vallabh Upashray Bhawan, Muni Shri said that once one expectation is fulfilled, another expectation emerges, and the cycle continues to grow. He said that anger and greed also become associated with expectations.
Learning to Live Free from Expectations
Muni Shreyanshprabh Sagar Ji said that if a person learns to live without expectations, life can become filled with happiness.
He explained that even when hopes are not fulfilled, a person may not experience the same level of sorrow as when an expectation is broken.
According to him, expectations often direct people towards things they do not possess. As expectations continue to be fulfilled, their scope expands and greed also increases.

He emphasised that for good deeds, one should have hope rather than expectation.
Hope Strengthens Relationships
Muni Shri said that living a completely expectation-free life may certainly be difficult, but it is not impossible.
He explained that where there is hope, relationships become deeper, while expectations can gradually create distance in relationships.
He also said that an imperative or commanding style of communication is often linked with expectations. When an order is not fulfilled, the expectation is broken, leading to disappointment and unhappiness.
He therefore emphasised the need to reduce expectations in life and adopt an optimistic outlook.
