Rajnandgaon Mayor Madhusudan Yadav has appealed to citizens to maintain cleanliness and adopt preventive measures against dengue, malaria, and other seasonal infectious diseases during the monsoon. He urged residents to keep their homes and surroundings clean and eliminate conditions that promote mosquito breeding.

Mayor Urges Citizens to Stay Vigilant

With the onset of the rainy season, the risk of mosquito-borne and water-borne diseases increases significantly. Keeping this in view, Mayor Madhusudan Yadav advised residents to:

  • Maintain cleanliness in and around their homes.
  • Drink filtered or boiled water.
  • Keep food items covered.
  • Consume fresh fruits and vegetables.
  • Seek immediate medical attention at the nearest health centre in case of fever or cold symptoms.

He said that timely precautions are the most effective way to prevent seasonal illnesses.

Prevent Mosquito Breeding

The Mayor emphasized the importance of eliminating mosquito breeding sites, particularly those responsible for spreading dengue.

He advised residents to:

  • Thoroughly clean air coolers and dry the cooling pads under direct sunlight, as Aedes mosquitoes can lay eggs on damp cooler pads.
  • Keep overhead water tanks and other water storage containers properly covered.
  • Dispose of broken pots, discarded tyres, tubes, plastic bottles, cans, and other containers that can collect rainwater.
  • Change the water in refrigerator drip trays and temple water vessels at least once every week.
  • Ensure that water does not stagnate around homes.
  • Sleep under mosquito nets wherever possible.

He said these simple preventive measures can significantly reduce the spread of dengue, malaria, and other communicable diseases.

Instructions to Municipal Health Staff

Mayor Yadav also directed the Municipal Corporation’s health department to intensify sanitation efforts across the city.

He instructed sanitation teams to:

  • Clean drains and sewage channels daily.
  • Ensure regular door-to-door garbage collection.
  • Carry out periodic spraying of insecticides.
  • Prevent water stagnation near hand pumps, public taps, and low-lying areas by creating proper drainage.
  • Spray larvicides such as Temephos (Abate) and other approved anti-larval chemicals to control mosquito breeding.

He stressed that coordinated efforts by both citizens and civic authorities are essential to safeguard public health during the monsoon season.
