Chhattisgarh has achieved a remarkable milestone by securing the first position in India in completing e-KYC verification of workers under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA). According to the latest report released by the Government of India, the state has successfully completed e-KYC of 97.11 percent active workers, the highest in the country.

Notably, Chhattisgarh outperformed smaller states such as Kerala, Tripura, and Mizoram, as well as larger states including Karnataka and Tamil Nadu to achieve this national distinction.

Massive Digital Verification Drive Strengthens Transparency

Under MGNREGA, Chhattisgarh has emerged as a national leader in completing workers’ e-KYC processes. The state has digitally verified more than 56.87 lakh labourers, ensuring transparency in wage payments.

The digital verification process plays a crucial role in eliminating fake job cards while enabling direct transfer of wages into the bank accounts of genuine beneficiaries. This initiative has significantly strengthened accountability and transparency within the scheme.

Leadership and Strategic Monitoring Behind the Achievement

The achievement is being credited to the effective guidance of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and the continuous leadership, monitoring, and strategic planning of Deputy Chief Minister and Panchayat & Rural Development Minister Vijay Sharma.

A systematic statewide campaign accelerated the e-KYC process, allowing a large number of workers to be linked within a defined timeline.

Over 56 Lakh Workers Successfully Verified

As per the report, out of more than 58 lakh active workers in Chhattisgarh, e-KYC verification of over 56 lakh workers has already been successfully completed.

This accomplishment highlights not only administrative efficiency but also marks a significant step toward digital empowerment in rural areas.

Government Reaffirms Commitment to Workers’ Welfare

Expressing happiness over the achievement, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai stated that the state government remains committed to protecting the interests of poor and labour communities while ensuring transparent delivery of welfare benefits.

He emphasized that e-KYC enables timely wage payments and guarantees direct access to government schemes for workers.

Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma said the success reflects coordinated efforts of officials, employees, and grassroots-level teams across the state. He noted that e-KYC has effectively curtailed irregularities while ensuring benefits reach genuine beneficiaries.

He also congratulated all officials involved and directed departments to complete the remaining pending cases quickly, moving Chhattisgarh toward achieving 100 percent e-KYC coverage.

Special Campaigns Drive Digital Governance Success

The milestone was achieved through special campaigns conducted across the state, extensive awareness programs at the Gram Panchayat level, and effective utilization of technological resources.

This accomplishment further establishes Chhattisgarh as a leading state in digital governance and rural development initiatives.
