Mayor Madhusudan Yadav chaired a review meeting of the Municipal Corporation’s Revenue Department and instructed officials to accelerate tax collection efforts to achieve maximum recovery before the end of the financial year. He also appealed to residents to clear their pending dues and contribute to the city’s development.
The meeting was attended by Municipal Corporation Chairman Topendra Singh Paras Verma, Revenue Department in-charge Raja Makhija, Public Works Department in-charge Sawan Verma, and senior revenue officials. The Mayor reviewed the total tax demand and expressed concern that collections remained comparatively low against the target while limited time remained before the close of the fiscal year.
Emphasizing the importance of revenue generation, the Mayor said the Revenue Department is the backbone of the Municipal Corporation, as salaries, civic services, and development expenditures depend largely on tax recovery. He directed employees to intensify efforts during the remaining days of the month and ensure improved collection performance across all wards. Officials were also instructed to update demand records and extend collection drives to both government and private colonies.
The Mayor sought feedback from staff regarding challenges faced during tax recovery and issued specific instructions concerning water tax collections. He directed officials to verify household water connections, noting that some properties allegedly have multiple connections while paying charges for only one. He also ordered verification of connections installed under the Bhagirathi and AMRUT Mission schemes to ensure proper billing. Long-term defaulters may face disconnection of water supply, he warned.

Reviewing revenue from municipal shops, the Mayor directed that premium dues be collected promptly and that agreements be executed for shops where contracts are pending so that rent recovery can begin immediately. He also examined the status of allotments at weekly markets, platforms constructed under the Pauni Pasari scheme, and other commercial spaces. Officials were instructed to cancel allotments of those who have neither executed agreements nor paid rent and proceed with fresh allotments as per rules.
The Mayor further directed Revenue Officer Rajesh Tiwari to ensure that ward in-charges remain present in the revenue office every Monday during office hours to facilitate tax collection. He also ordered that the revenue office remain open even on holidays, if required, to maximize recovery efforts.
Appealing directly to taxpayers, Mayor Yadav urged all defaulters to pay their outstanding taxes promptly to avoid penalties and support the city’s growth and infrastructure development.
The meeting was attended by Revenue Sub-Inspectors and Assistant Revenue Inspectors of the Municipal Corporation.
