Somni Police and Cyber Cell Conduct Joint Operation; Narcotics Worth ₹9.47 Lakh Seized

As part of an ongoing drive to curb drug trafficking in the district, Somni Police Station and the Cyber Cell carried out a joint operation that led to the arrest of three ganja smugglers and the seizure of narcotics weighing more than 14 kilograms.
The action was taken under the direction of Superintendent of Police Ms Ankita Sharma, with guidance from Additional Superintendent of Police Mr Kirtan Rathore and supervision of City Superintendent of Police Mr Alexander Kiro.

According to police sources, a confidential informant tipped off authorities that illegal narcotics were being transported from Raipur to Rajnandgaon in an e-auto. Acting swiftly on the information, a team led by Somni Station In-Charge Inspector Arun Kumar Namdev set up a checkpoint at Tedesara village and intercepted an e-auto bearing registration number CG 04 QF 3543.
Upon conducting a thorough search, police recovered eight packets of ganja concealed behind the rear seat of the vehicle. The total quantity seized was 14.662 kilograms, with an estimated market value of ₹7,33,100.
Accused Arrested
The arrested persons have been identified as:
- Durgesh Raikar alias Vicky (30), resident of Hirapur Lottery Nagar, Raipur
- Mohammad Zulfikar alias Raja (32), resident of Kabir Nagar Atal Awas, Raipur
- Deepak Sahu (38), resident of Kabir Nagar Atal Awas, Raipur
During interrogation, the accused confessed that they had brought the ganja from Raipur with the intention of selling it in Rajnandgaon.
Seized Articles
Police seized the following items from the accused:
- Mahindra e-auto: ₹2,00,000
- 14.662 kg ganja: ₹7,33,100
- Two Android mobile phones, one keypad mobile phone, one earbud
- Cash: ₹3,023
The total value of seized property is estimated at ₹9,47,023.

A case has been registered against the accused under Section 20(b)(ii) of the NDPS Act. They were produced before the court and subsequently remanded to judicial custody.
City SP Alexander Kiro, Inspector Arun Kumar Namdev, ASI Raju Meshram, Head Constable Duleshwar Sahu, Constable Dinesh Verma, along with the Cyber Cell and Somni police staff, played a key role in the successful operation.
