Concerns over alleged illegal and immoral activities at resorts operating within the Mangata Van Chetna Kendra have come to the fore in Rajnandgaon district. Janpad Panchayat Rajnandgaon member from Area No. 12, Mohinish Kumar Dhankar, has formally approached the district administration and police authorities, demanding a thorough investigation and strict action against the resort operators involved.
In a written memorandum submitted to the Collector, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Superintendent of Police (SP), and Somni police station in-charge, the Janpad member alleged that several resorts functioning under the Mangata Van Chetna Kendra are openly involved in activities such as gambling, betting, illegal sale of liquor, sexual exploitation, and organized prostitution.
According to the complaint, resort operators are allegedly providing rooms on an hourly basis to outsiders, including minors, without verifying valid identity documents. Such practices, the memorandum states, are in clear violation of legal norms as well as social and moral standards.
The Janpad member further alleged that loud DJ music and sound systems are routinely used late into the night under the influence of alcohol, causing serious disturbance to nearby villages. He pointed out that this noise pollution is adversely affecting the studies of school-going children and also disturbing wildlife in the surrounding forest areas.

It has also been alleged that illegal sale and consumption of liquor, cannabis, and other intoxicating substances along resort access roads have led to a rise in anti-social activities in the area. This has reportedly created an atmosphere of fear and insecurity, particularly among women and children.
Highlighting the cultural and religious sensitivity of the region, Dhankar stated that immoral activities have also been reported near historically and religiously significant sites such as Pahadi Pat Baba and Marsapota Dham. He claimed that such incidents are causing inconvenience to devotees and hurting religious sentiments.
The Janpad member has urged the administration to verify the legal permissions of the resorts, enforce strict identity verification norms, regulate noise levels, and crack down on illegal liquor and narcotics trade. He has demanded firm legal action against those found guilty to ensure peace, safety, and the rule of law in the area.
