₹12,300 cash recovered; accused produced before court and sent to jail

Police have successfully solved a burglary case reported from Singdai village under Basantpur police station limits, arresting the accused and recovering part of the stolen cash. A total of ₹12,300 in cash has been seized from the accused, who has been produced before the court and subsequently sent to jail.
According to police sources, the complainant had lodged a report at Basantpur police station stating that on January 13, 2026, he left home in the morning after dropping his wife and children at school and went to work. When he returned home around 8 pm, he found household items scattered. Upon checking, ₹35,000 in cash kept in an almirah was found missing.
Following the complaint, Crime No. 27/2026 was registered under Sections 331(4) and 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and an investigation was initiated.

Taking the matter seriously, the investigation was carried out under the direction of Superintendent of Police Ms. Ankita Sharma (IPS), with guidance from City Superintendent of Police Ms. Vaishali Jain and Additional Superintendent of Police Mr. Pushpendra Nayak, and under the leadership of Basantpur Police Station In-charge Inspector Aman Sahu. Special police teams were constituted to trace the offender.
During the investigation, police detained Gopi Yadav alias Mahavir Yadav (35), son of Niyat Ram, a resident of Singdai village. During interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime. Based on his disclosure, police recovered ₹12,300 from the stolen amount and formally arrested him. He was later presented before the court and sent to jail after obtaining a judicial warrant.
The operation was successfully carried out with the notable contribution of Inspector Aman Sahu, Sub-Inspector Naresh Sarva, Constables Praveen Meshram, Ashish Manikpuri and Kush Baghel. The swift action by the police has brought relief to residents of the area.
