43 Agriculture Students Visit Sericulture Unit in Baghera for Educational Exposure

Students from Pt. Shiv Kumar Shastri Agricultural College Gain Hands-On Knowledge of Silkworm Rearing and Employment Opportunities

Aiming to bridge academic learning with practical exposure, 43 third-year students from Pt. Shiv Kumar Shastri Agricultural College and Research Centre, Surgi (Rajnandgaon), participated in an educational tour of the Sericulture Unit located in Baghera village on July 25, 2025.

The visit was organized under the guidance of the college’s Dean, Dr. Vinmrata Jain, with faculty members Dr. Nitin Kumar Turre and Dr. Manoj Kumar Chandrakar accompanying the students.

At the Sericulture Unit, center in-charge Mr. Sanjeev Kumar and Mr. Harish Deshmukh gave students a detailed orientation on key aspects of sericulture. The session covered egg production, cocoon formation, various life stages of silkworms, rearing techniques, pest and disease management, and other critical components of the silk production process.

In addition to technical knowledge, the experts also discussed entrepreneurship and employment opportunities available in the sericulture industry, encouraging students to consider the field as a viable career path.

The interactive visit proved to be an enriching experience, offering students a practical perspective on the theoretical concepts learned in the classroom.
